Stiff Boom Crane Operator Certification Course

The Stiff Boom 40 Tonnes & Under Crane Operator Course includes 3 core components:
- Level 1 Rigger Certification,
- Common Crane Core Theory and
- Crane Operator Full Scope
After three weeks, students are fully prepared to challenge the Full Scope theory and practical exam to become a certified crane operator. When you successfully pass the assessment, you become a fully certified Stiff Boom 40 Tonnes & Under crane operator with no restrictions.
Certification also includes unlimited tonnage folding boom cranes
Taught by an accomplished Red Seal crane operator and instructor, the Full Scope certification training program combines in-class content with practical experience. Students are provided access to cranes to gain hours of operation and learn how to operate stiff boom and folding boom cranes one-on-one with a certified operator/instructor. The goal of the Full Scope training program is to equip you for the Full Scope Assessment and to provide additional training opportunities to be a safe and confident crane operator in the workforce.
Tuition and fees
$26,200.00 + gst (includes all assessment, certification fees and manual)
- Pre-operational inspection and equipment logbook
- Hazard assessment, incident reporting & electrical safety
- Rigging and load charts
- Radio communications and hand signals
- Stiff boom and folding boom orientation including setup, load lifting, load control and demobilization
- Installing and using a jib
- Written lift plans for critical lifts
- WorksafeBC Regulations, ASME Codes and CSA Standards
Assessment is completed by a Fulford Certification assessor, who determines if you pass or fail.
After you are certified as a Stiff Boom 40 Tonnes & Under/Unlimited tonnage Folding Boom crane operator, you may begin your career with no operating restrictions.
Bonus Item: If you want to take the next step and operate hydraulic cranes, you may submit an application to the Industry Training Authority (ITA) and register as an apprentice for your crane type.

Training At Our Location
This Training Course is scheduled on demand. Classes run for three (3) days and seven (7) hours per day running from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm (with 30 minutes for lunch) from Monday to Friday at Bigfoot Crane Company, 2170 Carpenter Street in Abbotsford B.C.
Training at Your Location
Bigfoot Crane Academy can provide custom training at your location. Maximum number of students for on-site theory and practical training is six (6) employees per session.
